General FAQs
General FAQs
Check HERE for further info regarding custom paint, bike set up and more.
| I want to attach bags. What will it do to the frame finish? |
Curve's steel frames are finished with high-quality and durable paint, but the paint is not unaffected by rubbing from bike bags or rock strikes etc. If you want to keep your paint looking pristine, we recommend that you use some kind of protective film - especially in the high-wear areas where bag straps are in direct contact with the frame. Stock Ti frames are not painted, but bag rub will affect the surface finish. The lighter, brushed, finish can be refreshed using a fine abrasive pad, but the darker blasted finish can only be refinished by media blasting. To keep your Ti frame looking pristine, we recommend using protective film. |
| I want to get a custom frame bag made. Can you give me the frame dimensions? | Of course! Have a look at our bagmaker page HERE where you can download full-scale PDFs showing the internal dimensions of all our frame models. |
| I want to use a rack. Is the frame compatible? | Yes, with a Relaxle you can use a rack on most frames regardless of whether they have integrated rack mounts or not. Some of our frames do not have upper attachment points on the seatstays (such as the Belgie range and AIR Kev for example), to get around this, you can use a seat clamp with built-in rack mounts. You can also use the lower M5 mounts on the seatstays (not all our frames have them) to attach a rack, but these mounts are not always going to be compatible with every single rack on the market. For racks with a quick-release system, we recommend using an axle-mounted solution, such as what's offered by Tailfin and Old Man Mountain. |
| How much weight can I carry on a rack? | The maximum weight when using the seatstay/chainstay M5 mounts should not exceed 20kg. Check the tightness of the bolts regularly! Note: This rating is for smooth roads & gravel. For anything rougher, the weight limit decreases. Use careful discretion when gauging how much weight to carry on rough gravel or off-road adventures. |

Meet the Big Kev V2
The Big Kev v2 is the progressive gravel bike you have been waiting for. Curve was among the first to launch wide-tyre gravel bikes, and Big Kev has long delivered comfort and control where others max out. We have well and truly entered the gravel-plus era, with cyclists jamming the widest possible tyres in their gravel bikes.
Designed for more than just gravel, the Big Kev platform is the benchmark for modern adventure cycling. The super wide 29-inch tyre clearance offers comfort and confidence for weekend gravel missions and flowy light-duties single-track, or the reliability and speed to tackle bucket-list bikepacking adventures like the Tour Divide.
Version 2 brings the updates you have asked for: clearance for 29 x 2.4" tyres across all sizes, UDH dropouts with full SRAM Transmission compatibility, a 3D-printed dropper post port, an updated chainstay yoke, and revised geometry at both ends of the size range.

Time for Gravel-Plus!
A larger diameter means more comfort on rough terrain. A smoother ride is also more efficient. The modern gravel race scene has taken this to heart, with pro riders lining up with the widest tyres possible on their frames.
With Big Kev v2, we have committed to the 29-inch wheel platform. With the new Ride 415 VGM carbon fork, Big Kev v2 is optimised for 2.25” tyres, with a maximum width of 2.4”. For sizes SM and up, you can even fit 2.6” tyres with limited mud clearance. Big Kev is sure to quench your wide tyre gravel bike thirst.
Light, Strong, Durable
With a titanium tubeset carefully selected and finely tuned for weight, comfort and reliability, Big Kev v2 is built to last. We’ve proven this with industry-standard MTB-level testing.
The detailing on Big Kev v2 takes Curve bikes to the next level. A custom yoke, with asymmetrical chainstays and dropouts, allows super wide tyre clearance with a road Q-factor. This exquisite yet complex rear-end, tied together with an 85.5mm T47 bottom bracket shell, provides a sturdy platform under load. The refined dropouts use the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) system and are fully compatible with SRAM Transmission derailleur systems.
Adventure Ready
Let’s face it, to tackle the biggest bikepacking adventures with confidence, you need a bigger tyre. A narrow gravel tyre won’t cut it – no one wants to slash a sidewall on day one or walk a bike up a rocky climb due to lack of traction. Big Kev gives you all the benefits of a drop bar setup, but with the comfort and traction of a gravel-plus tyre.
Whether it’s single-day gravel missions, multi-day flashpacking, or racing the Tour Divide, Big Kev is ready for whatever cycling mission you have planned.
More Storage. More Mounts
Big Kev is built with a larger main triangle compared with other 29er options. This allows full-size frame bags for extra storage, even on smaller sizes. With three bidon mounts, bento mounts, rear rack and fender mounts, and 1x groupset options (boost cranks are not required), Big Kev has a variety of riding styles covered.
Our Ride 415 VGM fork has offset adjustability to fine-tune your ride. In addition, the 3 x M5 mounts on each leg allow you to carry fork-mounted bags or extra bottles. Rated to carry up to 8 kg on each fork leg, this class-leading fork is amazingly robust.
For even more carrying capacity, a framebag might be the way to go. To make sure current, prospective or custom bagging fits your frame size please see our Bagmaker Drawing page.
