A ride to celebrate our beloved Kevin and his fourth birthday!
This is a fun mixed terrain tour of Melbourne's North Eastern burbs. Don't expect a walk in the park - there's a fair whack of climbing, you’ll get some exercise, but don't worry - take it easy, bring some snacks, and you'll make it around. The route takes riders from Ivanhoe out through Eltham and into Warrandyte (the halfway point). Expect a combination of alleyways, gravel roads, non-technical singletrack, dragging yourself under fences, grassy nolls. There are sections where the route has steep descents and ascents, like any ride practice smart decision making. If it looks beyond your riding ability, walk. Some of the trails can be rutted, washed out, and have water bars, which you need to keep an eye out for.
Refuel at the bakery in Warrandyte and head back to Ivanhoe via bike paths, single track, and creek trails. Most importantly, bring your sense of adventure and have fun.
The route crosses over on itself a few times - so make sure you're going the right way. Also - take it easy on the shared paths and look out for pedestrians, wombats, kangaroos, and other locals. Please be careful, look for traffic, and look after others riding with you on main roads.
Resupply Options: The route takes you into Warrandyte past the bakery at the halfway point. Plenty of food options here, plus coffee. Riders will also pass Beasleys Nursey and Pettys Orchard on the return leg; both places have coffee/water/snacks options. There are plenty of water stations on course too. There is a great donut shop at the finish line (Gotham Donuts) if looking for a rewarding treat. Vegan options too!
