You asked and we’ve delivered. Internal hose routing is now available on AIR Kev! Internal routing and super clean cockpits are only increasing in popularity. We get it. We now have a super clean internal routing option available for many of our builds.

The internal routing system that we perfected on 00Kev and CarboKev is available on the AIR Kev, our hybrid carbon-titanium race machine. Central to this elegant internal routing system is a purpose-designed 3D-printed titanium fork plug, dubbed the Neo Plug.

To install the Neo Plug, a small slot is cut in the front side of the steerer before bonding the plug in place. Given the delicate surgery required, and recognising that the fork steerer needs to be cut precisely to size, Neo Plug installations for internal routing are ONLY available at our Melbourne HQ.

If you're interested in learning more, stay with me because it's time to talk about hose routing. After a lot of brainstorming within our team, we determined the best in-house customisation option for internal routing was as follows. The front brake hose enters the fork at the brake caliper, travels up the inside of the fork leg and steerer, then into the stem and handlebar. The rear brake hose, also enters the frame at the brake caliper, travels along the chainstay, around the bottom bracket, up the downtube and this is where it gets interesting. The hose enters the headtube from the downtube and bends around the steerer in the space of the headtube, entering fork steerer via the Neo Plug from the front below the top headset bearing. The hose then bends around the top headset bearing (like Neo dodging the bullets in the matrix) and enters the stem just under the top cap right next to the front brake hose.

From there, the cables can route through any internally route-able bar and stem combo. In this case, Ollie’s custom race AIR Kev, the first fully internally routed AIR Kev, we've installed the Zipp SL80 Race Bar and SL Stem.

We are happy to announce we are ready to roll out this upgrade to the wild! Currently, it is only available on AIR Kev, AIR Belgie, AIR Belgie 3D, Belgie Disc and Belgie Ultra models*. BUT if you want your next dream machine to be fully internally routed, it is also possible on a GXR4 or Big Kev if you purchase a custom frameset*.
