That part has not changed. The new model is still unmistakably a GMX+. It has just been improved in the right places.

Still ready to take on multi-week tours through challenging terrain, and carry the water, food and gear to stay safe out there. Still a long, stable bike for rough roads, corrugations, desert sand and river stones.

The idea hasn’t changed - just the execution.

The geometry has been relaxed, with a longer head tube, especially in the larger sizes. At the small end, standover has come down a touch. We’ve made targeted geometry tweaks to match how our customers have used this style of bike over the years, without noticeably compromising its load-carrying capacity or handling.

The tyre benchmark has also changed. The GMX+ V2 is now optimised around 2.6” tyres. That is what most GMX+ riders are actually using, and it also lines up nicely with wide-tyre availability right now. There is still room for 3.0” tyres for loaded missions on sandy desert roads when you need them.

The major update on the GMX+ V2 is the dropout system, which introduces the widest range of drivetrain flexibility possible. The GMX+ V2 uses the same sliding dropout mechanism as the UpRock v2. It is a clever mix-and-match system with a wide range of insert options. The stock setup is SRAM UDH / 160 mm flat-mount brake / Boost spacing, but the frame can be configured for a huge range of combinations across axle spacing, brake mount type, axle type and drivetrain. That includes Rohloff, SRAM T-type, UDH, and hangerless single speed. You just need a separate set of sliding inserts to accommodate a different configuration - that’s a whole lot better than needing a new frame.

The GMX+ V2 also gets a barely visible split in the drive-side seat stay, allowing belt-drive compatibility in a way that is neat, elegant and easy to miss unless you know where to look. It is the same tidy solution used on the UpRock V2, and it gives the GMX+ V2 platform another layer of discreet adaptability. The chain-stays are also more minimal, adding a touch more comfort.

Up front, the GMX+ v2 is built around the super robust Seek 430 FM fork with our new VGM mounts. This low axle-to-crown fork has a class-leading load-carrying capacity of 8 kg on each fork leg and a huge 29“ x 3.0” tyre clearance. It is still the right fork for this bike.

The GMX+ V2 is still the bike inspired by the Overlanders.
